Ok, I have to let this out because I have had it. I am a widowed, relatively young woman joining hiv ad sites to find someone to build a relationship with. And almost every ad says, "Oh I am so lonely that as long as we get along and have a lot in common, then I am interested and willing to give it a shot". Well, that is a load of crap! I get a lot of responses on my ad and when we talk they just "love me". But then they check out my pic. Geez, all of a sudden they don't "love me" anymore. I am not that bad looking and I am short and slightly overweight but I HAVE THE BEST PERSONALITY AND HEART ANY MAN COULD ASK FOR BUT NOONE GIVES ME A SHOT BECAUSE I TAKE BAD PICS. GIVE ME A BREAK GUYS! START THE DARN PROCESS OFF BY BEING HONEST! DON'T SAY ONE THING AND THEN PULL ANOTHER. Give the average girls a shot for goodness sakes. Do you honestly expect people that live with this disease to look like they did back in their twentys? Comeon! HIV does strange things to all of us in one way or another. We can't all look like hotties forever. SO STOP BEING SO SUPERFICIAL AND GET ON WITH LIFE AND GIVE US AVERAGE LADIES A SHOT!

I totally agree. Sometimes if you look at the guy's pic they are not an Adonis either, but they want some drop dead gorgeous hottie. I think alot of it has to with the maturity level of the guy and if he is that immature who wants him anyway, I don't need to be a mommy to some adult I did not give birth to.

`I agree with dorjus and lets not forget the empty profiles or photos of models people use if they even have 1. and all the people who claim to be from the us but in another country for work. accually they are from another country trying to get here but we cant bring them here when will they get that? and some are just out right trying to scam poor people with disabilities living on a fixed income like me. and then there are the ones who claim to be looking for a long term relationship so you focus on them chatting, phone calls and then you meet a few times and once they get S-- they forget who you are, whats up with that(why waste peoples time?) and im not saying its just men I have male friends who went through the same with women. at a certain age you would figure people would be grown and stop the games especially when you have a complication added to the mix.im not saying people shouldnt look for what will make them happy but lets face it we are not barbie and kens out here in the HIV world, we have flaws, lost some of our looks due to either the disease or the meds. happy hunting to all who are looking for a life partner, I wish you all the luck in the world.

Good reminder on some of the scam approaches that people use. Just thought I'd chime in to remind people to take a moment and read the 'Online Dating Scams' section in the 'HELP' area.

Also, since we are 100% free, we've added in numerous filters to try and prevent scammers from getting a foothold among our members.

Our system automatically identifies the location of the member, and if they are not in the U.S. or in Canada, they cannot contact people in those countries...unless the member has updated their 'approved country list' in the 'Block Management' area. (This has helped to cut down on the risks from scammers dramatically.)

Since our system is not foolproof, please notify us of anyone who informs you that they are at a location different from the one listed in their profile....even if they say they are just traveling. (It is against the rules to list an incorrect location in your profile...and most of the time when we see this happen, the person is up to no good.)

There are a number of other spam/scam filters in place, but we don't want to give away all our secrets.

We do rely on our members to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity though, so please help us all protect one another by reporting people who have anything in their profile that is different from what they tell you when they are emailing/chatting with you.

Thanks,
8)

`I was married 17 years, made one act of unfaithfulness, got infected, diagnosed, and separated 7 years ago. Because of this desease, I lived a solitude life. I restrained all urges to be with someone simply because I didn't know how (or afraid to) talk about my condition for fear of losing the person. Now I'm searching the web for people like myself for support, fiendship, and possibly long-term relationship. I'm honest, easy going with a positve attitude about most things in life. I have very few bad days. I laugh and smile at the drop of a hat. I don't hide behind any mask, and love just being myself with someone.
